Hardness

Hardness should be defined as HR [Scale] [Hardness Number] (i.e.: HRC 60-62, HRA 80-81, HR15N 90-92, HRB 60-70, etc.) which stands for Hardness Rockwell Scale followed by the hardness number or result. Hardness measurements for Brinell are defined as “Load”HB “Hardness Number” (i.e.: 3000KG HB 279, 500KG HB 300, etc.) which stands for Load-Hardness Brinell-Hardness Number or result. Other scales that might be used are the Vickers scale which is defined by “Load” HV followed by the hardness number followed by DPH (Diamond Pyramid Hardness) (i.e.: 500g HV 650 DPH) or the Knoop Scale which is defined by “Load”HK followed by the hardness number followed by KHN (Knoop Hardness Number) (i.e.: 500g HK 700 KHN).
